As our name states, Servants On Wheels Ever Ready (SOWERs) are first and foremost SERVANTS, couples with a true missionary heart who are more interested in serving others than accommodating their own desires, and who choose this form of service through the SOWER Ministry. SOWERs are born-again Christians who have recreational vehicles (RVs), are self-supported, generally retired or semi-retired and delight in serving the Lord by using their various acquired skills and God-given gifts to perform volunteer work at various Christian ministries. They enjoy the RV lifestyle and the adventure of traveling throughout the United States and Canada while being able to serve Christian ministries with needed work. Some are full-time RVers while others maintain homes and travel periodically to work at the Christian ministries with which SOWER Ministry has partnered.
SOWER backgrounds are varied and may include corporate executives, lawyers, doctors, pastors, construction tradesmen, real estate agents, farmers and truck drivers, as well as nurses, teachers, business leaders, seamstresses, artists or home managers. Some are knowledgeable, some semi-knowledgeable “weekend warriors” or just plain handy or good helpers. All skills are valuable and can be used. Willing hands and willing hearts, along with the ability to humbly take direction, are all that is needed.
Only married couples as defined in the Scriptures of one man and one woman may apply for membership in the SOWER ministry, and each person must complete and sign a separate application.
SOWERs consider themselves blessed to be able to serve their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, while combining this with the joy of RVing and the desire to fellowship with like-minded believers.
Romans 7:6: But now we, having been set free from the Law, having died to that in which we were held, so that we serve in newness of spirit and not in oldness of the letter.
